Islamabad, July 1 (ANI): Former Pakistan fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz has said Shoaib Akhtar must prove his hundred percent fitness if he wants to secure a berth in the national team.
Nawaz said if Akhtar proved his fitness, he would definitely be included in the squad.
With Umar Gul and rookie pace sensation Mohammad Aamir hogging the limelight during the ICC World Twenty20 Championship, Pakistan hardly felt the absence of the 'Rawalpindi Express' during the tournament, and with Sohail Tanvir also pushing hard for a place in the team, Akhtar's chances of making it to the national squad look bleak.
Akhtar missed the T20 World Championship due to a skin ailment, and was not considered for the Sri Lanka series, even after his claims of recovering completely.
Nawaz also asked the PCB to decide on the future of fast bowler Mohammad Asif soon.
"They should take the decision about Mohammad Asif. He has been stranded,"The News quoted Nawaz, as saying.
